Thanks for understanding.

You might just be asking yourself what on earth is a wipe clean bowl and doily.  Well I got a bit stuck for a name for it and this was what I ended up calling it and the name sort of stuck as one of the joys of vinyl is that you can wipe it clean! I have young kids and sticky fingers are always a problem.

This is an interesting design whereby you enclose fabric or other suitable items such as mulberry paper in vinyl.  This opens up the possibility of using items you would not normally associate with embroidery and being able to use them to make a bowl and doily. You just need plenty of imagination and you can create something very unique. Click here to see the basket and box design.

Both sizes are included in the price - for the 5x7” and 4x4” hoop. The design also comes with a pdf file with step by step instructions and photos. And it is very quick and easy to stitch out. It took me about 2 hours to stitch out the entire bowl and stitch it together on my sewing machine.

The type of vinyl required for this is the slightly thicker type of vinyl that you would find with the vinyl tablecloths.  There’s no reason of course why you couldn’t use vinyl tablecloth material and coloured vinyl is also availble.

The lilac bowl and doily has layers of organza in between the vinyl and star sequin confetti in between the organza. The coloured bowl stitched by Cris has crayon shavings in between the layers of coloured vinyl and stitched with a lovely bright varigated thread.

These are just a few examples of what you could do.

Helen created this wonderful Christmas doily using confetti. I used burgundy mulberry paper with gold strands in the other doily. Click here to see Photo Gallery

Whilst we were experimenting with another design, Helen tried out these ideas for items you could use in the vinyl - pressed roses, skeleton leaves and peel offs.  We found the flowers and leaves were good for bowls and doilies but not for the design you see in the photo!

Price: US $10.00 Both sizes included in fileset - Item No: S4T044
