Thse are the baskets and boxes that are created the same way as my Wipe Clean Bowl and Doily

There are 2 different sets on this page - baskets in 2 sizes and a box. 

You might just be asking yourself what on earth is a wipe clean basket and box.  Well I got a bit stuck for a name for it and this was what I ended up calling it and the name sort of stuck as one of the joys of vinyl is that you can wipe it clean! I have young kids and sticky fingers are always a problem. 

This is an interesting design whereby you enclose fabric or other suitable items in vinyl. This opens up the possibility of using items you would not normally associate with embroidery and being able to use them to make baskets and boxes. You just need plenty of imagination and you can create something very unique.

BASKETS

These baskets come as a set with optional handle in 2 sizes. For the 5x7” and 4x4” hoop.  The finished large baskets measures approx “4 x 6.5 “ and the small basket approx “3.5 x 4“.

BOX

This box measures just under 4”. There are 2 versions of the lid so that it is possible for people with only a 4x4” hoop to be able to sew it out.  The lid does require a small amount of hand sewing.

The designs come with a pdf file with step by step instructions and photos.  And it is very quick and easy to stitch out.  When choosing your “fill” for the vinyl for the baskets and boxes, you do need to bear in mind that unlike the bowl and doily, the pieces require quite a lot of manipulation when sewing them together so don’t put in anything that won’t survive the sewing together unless you’re prepared to hand sew or use a glue gun on the side seams.

The type of vinyl required for this is the slightly thicker type of vinyl that you would find with the vinyl tablecloths.  There’s no reason of course why you couldn’t use vinyl tablecloth material and coloured vinyl is also availble.
