Two different advent trees.  Triangle version with pockets for the 4x4” hoop and Diamond version with buttoned pockets for the 5x7” hoop.  There are also three different methods of creating the diamonds/triangles depending on what suits you.  Lots of potential for variation and individuality with these trees.

Method 1:  Satin Stitch edges to the triangles/diamonds stitched together on the sewing machine with a zigzag stitch. The edging is not strictly satin stitch as we found it was better to use a different stitch to avoid loopy points.

Method 2: This method would suit people who like quilting and patchwork as you sew the pieces together wrong sides facing with a straight stitch on your sewing machine.

Method 3: These triangles/diamonds are created in such a way that you have to turn them right side out through a gap left in the seam. Stitch together however you like or hand sew the points together.

The files for Method 2 can be created from either Method 1 or Method 3.  Therefore the sets are labelled as either Methods 1-2 or Methods 2-3. Please ensure you order the right method. Full step by step pdf instruction file included.

This set includes pocket triangles sized for the 4x4” hoop with the numbers 1-24 and a blank triangle. It also includes triangles to spell out Merry Christmas and the files for the base, star and trunk.

The pocket triangles are about half the height of the triangle and each one is created in one hooping. The finished triangles measure 3.78 x 3.72” and the stitch count for method 1 which is the most stitch intensive is in the region of 4,000-4,500 stitches.

Diamond Tree

DSC0009602

The Diamond tree is for the 5x7” hoop. The pockets are buttoned so that you can open them to retrieve the treat inside.  Each diamond is created in one hooping.

Included are the diamonds numbered 1-24, star, base and 2 different tree trunks as there is more than one way of putting the diamonds together to make a tree.

The diamond tree pictured was created using method 1.

The finished diamonds measure  4.87 x 6.83” and the stitch count for method 1 is in the region of 4,000-4,500 stitches.
